How to Maintain Solid Forklift Tires

Nothing lasts forever! But if things are taken care of in proper manner the life expectancy can certainly be increased, productivity can be increased. Same is the case of Solid Forklift Tires.  When you know the tricks to take care of your tires, they will not only last you longer and give better service, impacting productivity and performance but you will also face fewer safety issues with well-maintained solid forklift tires. 

 Solid forklift tires should be reviewed at regular interval, every few days. If a professional is operating these tires who knows the right way to use it, it is good but if a new or amateur is operating it chances are it will face wear and tear issues quickly, hence if they are tested and looked into every few days, problems can be identified at early stage. Also the kind of conditions they are used on decides its wear and tear frequency.

There is no written rule as to in what interval should be maintain the solid forklifts, as it depends on its use, operator, kind of terrain and work undertaken by it, etc. However, on day today basis if you will keep a few points under check, it will make a difference. For example you should always keep the air pressure under check. One should steer the tires clear of ‘bleeding’ due to low level air pressure. Air pressure impacts tread life, traction, chances of accidents, braking efficiency etc.

One should always check that the valves of solid forklift tires are closed so that dust does not get into it, which affects its performance. Last but not the least is the way driver operates it. For example if you stop and start it all too often chances of wear and tear certainly increase. Shape of tire also plays an important role. Ideally every day you should look into the above mentioned issues in your solid forklift tires. When they are well maintained, they are safer, driver feels less tired as operation is smooth, improves fuel efficiency and tire life. Business downtime instances are fewer. Long term huge maintenance cost also comes down.

When you  notice flat spots or balding, chunks of rubber coming out of tire, shoulder or tread cuts, radial stress cracks etc. you know your solid forklift tires need to be shown to a technician and should be sent for repair and maintenance.
